** While at the North Carolina School of the Arts my senior year of high school, my Mom sent me a letter. Inside was a photocopy of Ann Landers column. The letter read, "A friend of mine was recently killed in a car accident. She was 17 years old and she loved to write poetry. I thought you might share one of her poems with your readers. Her name was Deb Moir from Alta, Canada." A handwritten note from my Mom said I thought you might be able to do something with this. I put it to music and have closed almost every solo show of my life with the song One and Only You. About 7-8 years ago, I received an email from Deb's sister. She had googled her sister's name and the song came up. She said the family was very appreciative. I wrote back and asked for her phone number. We talked for quite awhile. I got their info to send them royalties. She said no, they were just glad the song was written. During the conversation, the sister said that this poem was written during Deb's darkest time. I find that so ironic because I feel it is the most positive song I have ever heard. To think that the story came around full circle still amazes me.
