Hand in Hand

Mack Bailey, V. Buddy Renfro (Spa Creek Music ASCAP)

There’s a place where children come, with courage on their faces,

And the innocence of trusting and believing in this place.

Though strangers at the first but now a family

With the promise of the future just waiting like a friend.

Chorus:

Give us laughter, give us hope; give a smile that’s worth the morning.

Give a gentle word to calm our fears and chase dark clouds away.

Fill our hearts with joy and love; fill our minds with understanding.

Let us walk these halls of healing; hand in hand we’ll find a way.

It’s hard to keep the spirit bright, with all the heartless waiting.

Faith will guide us through the night, when all our hope is fading

Skillful hands and a caring soul, bring help and inspiration,

To those of us that question why and ask for explanations.

Chorus

Chorus

Let us walk these halls of healing; hand in hand we’ll find a way.

Hearts Don't Listen

L. Stonebreaker/ Mack Bailey (Spa Creek Music)

Maybe I’ve been having “heart to hearts” with my heart,

Trying to tell it to hold out,

Trying to tell it not to start.

Don’t lose your head, I always said

Don’t get carried away and fall,

Sometimes hearts don’t listen at all.

Chorus:

This heart’s been a fool;

I know what I stand to lose

I know what I dread,

Now it’s too late to choose

Between listening to my heart,

Or listening to my head..

Don’t you do it, well, don’t you fall

It’s like talking to a wall;

You know hearts don’t listen at all.

Tell it, say that I’ve been led astray before

When I let my heart have it’s way, for just a night or day,

And I don’t know if I can take it any more.

Chorus

Bridge:

Hey heart of mine, I’ve been doin’ just fine without you

After all those times, can you blame me if I grown to doubt you.

Chorus

Hearts don’t listen, well they don’t listen, hearts don’t listen at all.

High Gear

Mack Bailey  (Spa Creek Music ASCAP)

Driving down this long stretch of black top

Gives a man some time to think about his worth,

All the dreams that he had as a young man and

The mark he would leave upon this earth

But the years have ways of moving faster

Hidden in the seasons and the tide

If you feel that life has passed you by

The desire is fading in your eyes

Reach a little deeper down inside.

Chorus:

Put it in high gear, don’t let your wheels just turn

Put it in high gear and make that fire burn.

Lay your life before you, be a teacher while you learn

Put it in high gear and make that fire burn.

Make it burn.

(instrumental section)

Chorus

Bridge:

Stoke those fading embers

Make them shine so bright

Share it with the world,

Be a beacon in the night.

Chorus

Chorus

Make it burn, make it burn, make it burn, make it burn.

Put it in High Gear and make that fire burn.

I Have a Voice  (Listen to the Children)

Mack Bailey  (Spa Creek Music ASCAP)

I have a voice.  Can you hear it?

Can you hear it when I call?

When the night is all around me

Can you catch me if I fall?

When my dreams are right around the corner

And I can’t seem to make it ‘round the bend

I have a heart.  Can you see it?

Can you fill it with your love?

When my dreams are right around the corner

And I can’t seem to make it ‘round the bend

I have a heart.  Can you see it?

Can you fill it with your love?

I have a heart.  Can you see it?

Can you fill it with your love?

I Miss You Tomorrow

Mack Bailey  (Spa Creek Music ASCAP)

I’m leaving again tonight; it seems like I just got home

The look in you yes reveals that you are tired of time alone

I can’t tell you this is the last time I’m going away,

But I miss you tomorrow, already today.

Remember when we first started how the spark became a flame

the love we made all through the night; You said you’d share my name.

You made my music beautiful and people pay to hear me play and

I miss you tomorrow, already today.

How many times can I leave you standing at the door?

Let me stay and hold you tightly ‘til the tears will fall no more

Moonlight should be for lovers that’s the reason I’m going to stay

Because I miss you tomorrow, already today.

How many times can I leave you standing at the door?

Let me stay and hold you tightly ‘til the tears will fall no more

Moonlight should be for lovers that’s the reason I’m going to stay

Because I miss you tomorrow, already today.

I miss you tomorrow, already today.

I Never Want to Grow Up

Mack Bailey  (Spa Creek Music ASCAP)

When I was young my grandma said,

“What do you want to be when you get older?

Your future’s gonna sneak up on you any old day.”

So I stood up straight and tall and I told her.

Chorus:

“I want to live to be a hundred and three

But I never ever want to grow up.

I want to live to be a hundred and three

But I never ever want to grow up.”

The greatest sound that I can recall

I try to imitate in every way.

It’s the laughter of a child running free and wild

In their own little world as they play.

Chorus

Bridge:

And during the week I’ll play the adult

And go to work to earn my daily pay.

But on the weekend without the alarm

I’ll get up just to watch cartoons on Saturday.

So if an adult says the same to you

Remember to respect your elders,

You may not be child any more,

So stand up straight and tall and tell them.

You want live to be a hundred and three

But you never ever want to grow up.

You want live to be a hundred and three

But you never ever want to grow up.

“I want to live to be a hundred and three

But I never ever want to grow up.

I want to live to be a hundred and three

But I never ever want to grow up.”

I Wanna Be That Guy

Mack Bailey, Chris Nole, and students

(Spa Creek Music ASCAP; Strathmere Music BMI)

You and me go back a long way

Talk about everything, night and day

You tell me ‘bout your lover and know I’m just a friend

I gotta tell you ‘bout a fire burning within.

What is it ‘bout those guys that always makes you cry?

And why am I the one to dry those tears from your eyes?

Everything you’re looking for isn’t hard to find,

Look at who’s in front of you and don’t be so blind.

I wanna be that guy, the guy that gets to hold you.

Be that guy.

I wanna be that guy, that’s always on your mind, girl

Be that guy.

Funny how the tables turn in such a short time.

Instead of your confessing, this time it’s all mine.

Trying to risk it all, open every door;

These are my true feelings, can you finally tell me yours?

Chorus

The touch of your hand, the look in your eyes;

Seein’ you smile makes this all worthwhile.

Chorus

Chorus

I wanna be that guy, I wanna be that guy.

I'll Be Ready for You

Mack Bailey  (Spa Creek Music ASCAP)

Jamaica To Christmas

Mack Bailey  (Spa Creek Music ASCAP)

Just Because

Mack Bailey, Tom Paxton (Spa Creek Music ASCAP) (Pax Music ASCAP)

Just because you can't see me doesn't mean I'm not there;

Just because you can't hear me doesn't mean I don't care;

Just because you can't make me appear out of thin air,

Just because you can't hold me doesn't mean I'm not there.

Just because I am gone now an ocean away

Doesn’t mean you can't listen to every soft word I say

It's your name I whisper in every Prayer

Just because you can't hold me doesn't mean I'm not there.

Just because you can't see me doesn't mean I'm not there;

Just because you can't hear me doesn't mean I don't care;

Just because you can't make me appear out of thin air,

Just because you can't hold me doesn't mean I'm not there.

On the loneliest night when it's so dark you can't see tomorrow,

Listen deep down in your heart to the sweetest voice say:

Just because you can't see me doesn't mean I'm not there

Just because you can't hear me doesn't mean I don't care

Just because you can't make me appear out of thin air

Just because you can't hold me doesn't mean I'm not there.

Just because you can't hold me doesn't mean I'm not there.

Doesn't mean I'm not there.

Whatever may come, love, I'll always be there.

Last Picture Show

Mack Bailey, Tim Malchek

(Spa Creek Music ASCAP; Nightstorm Music BMI)

I think I’ve been to see too many movies, where the leading man gets the girl

Here I am wishing that man was me.

Just a sole supporting actor in a familiar love story, cast into a role I’ve played before

Watched this scene unfold so many times, that my heart knows what’s in store.

It’s always been the same old ending,

When love has been the theme

Someone loses when someone has to go.

There are no lessons left for learnin’,

When you’re the one who’s left alone

I’m just a hopeless romantic at his last picture show.

Night fades to black and I fight back the tears, that I’ve let fall so freely before

It would be easier just to let them go.

But I’m all through with cryin’ and I’m all through denyin’ that I would surely end up all alone

I could have had that chance one last time, but then again, I guess we’ll never know.

It’s always been the same old ending,

When love has been the theme

When one loses, when someone has to go.

There are no lessons left for learnin’,

When you’re the one who’s left alone

I’m just a hopeless romantic at his last picture show.

There are no lessons left for learnin’,

When you’re the one who’s left alone

I’m just a hopeless romantic at his last picture show.

Last Song

Mack Bailey  (Spa Creek Music ASCAP)

Learning to Forget

L. Stonebreaker, Mack Bailey  (Spa Creek Music ASCAP)

Let the Joy

Mack Bailey, C. Keyes (Spa Creek Music ASCAP)

Used to be I wanted what the rat race offered me

So I ran the race till I saw the waste of energy

You just can’t be afraid to step to the other side

Turn your back to the merry-go-round, take a different ride.

Chorus

Let the joy of living fill your heart and soul

Listen to the music of the wind

Feel the love around you; it’s there, you know.

If you’ll only open up and let it in, let it in.

It’s easy to forget that you grow older day by day

In a world where love is lost and found.

Days turn into years that slip away,

So hold the ones you love while they’re around.

Chorus

Bridge:

It all goes by in the wink of an eye

The dreams of youth

The search for truth

The need to touch the sky.

Chorus, Chorus improvisation

Listening Ear

Mack, Lauren, and Caroline Bailey (Spa Creek Music ASCAP)

There was a time, I was surrounded

By darkness, doubt and fear

All of my questions, no longer had answers

Like “what am I doing, and why am I here?”

And I found myself praying day after day,

Looking for answers to show me the way,

That’s when I found out, you were my Savior,

When I started praying with a listening ear.

Now I can hear You, I feel Your presence
I know You're with me, holding me near
I see Your power, I feel Your glory,
Your love has shown me why I'm here.

Call on the Lord, trust in Him always,

The Lord will hear when you call his name.

Bow down before Him and listen in silence

Be still and know that He is God.

Now I can hear You, I feel Your presence
I know You're with me, holding me near
I see Your power, I feel Your glory,
Your love has shown me why I'm here.
Your love has shown me why I'm here.

Little Black Book

Mack Bailey  (Spa Creek Music ASCAP)

Little More Time

Mack Bailey, Buddy Renfro  (Spa Creek Music  ASCAP)

It was the end of the month and all my bills were due.

The banks are calling, saying “Is there something you forgot to do?”

Well, my money’s all spent on a round of golf or two.

Mr. Banker, I’m begging you please, I’ll pay it all back, you see,

If you will only give me just a little more time.

Chorus:

Oh, Lord, Gimme just a little more time.

I know I haven’t used what you give me with the future in mind.

Oh, Lord, Gimme just a little more time.

I promise that I’ll try to be, a person who will use it carefully

If you will only give me just a little more time.

It was a Saturday night and I was out with Peggy Sue (pretty, pretty, pretty Peggy Sue)

The fever was rising and I thought she was feeling it too,

When the time was right, I'd steal a kiss or two.

She said, “Will you marry me?  I’ll tie you up and never set you free.”

Well, Lord, I’m begging you, please, for a little more time.

Chorus

When St. Peter comes to take me home I’ll send him on his way

They say my dance card’s all used up and I’ll beg and plead to stay.

Chorus

The Love That Got Me Here

Mack Bailey  (Spa Creek Music ASCAP)

Papa is true and gentle spirit,

He never asked for more than he could give,

Always there to solve my childish problems,

He gave the music in my soul a chance to live.

Mama made me smile when it was raining,

Reminding me of days when things were good.

Finding pots of gold at ends of rainbows,

Making the sun appear as only she could.

Chorus:

And I’ll cherish the new friends that I am making,

And I’ll keep in touch with old friends still so dear.

And I’ll treasure the love all around me,

And I’ll remember the love that got me here.

Chorus

Love that got me here.

Love that got me here.

Loving Hand

Mack Bailey, V. Buddy Renfro (Spa Creek Music ASCAP)

There’s a time to feel the warmth that comes from having you so near,

Knowing that you’re always there to care.

There’s that moment when we know that this hand will always hold,

A destiny so strong and pure and real.

Chorus:

This Loving Hand, soft upon my brow,

This Loving Hand, a lifeline to my soul.

How could I ever see, the good inside of me

Without the wonder of your Loving Hand?

There’s a quiet wind no words could fill the silence in my voice

That your gentle touch could say so loud and clear

There’s a magic wind no other hand could ever feel so good,

To take my cares and troubles far away.

Chorus

Bridge:

As I look into your eyes

And hear the soothing sound of your voice

The greatest strength I know will always be:

Chorus

How could I ever see the good inside of me

Without the wonder of your Loving Hand?

Your Loving Hand, soft upon my brow

I can feel it now, I can feel it now.

Moonlight Sonata

Caroline Bailey, Mack Bailey (Spa Creek Music ASCAP)

Chorus:

Moonlight sonata, can’t you see, can’t you see

Everybody’s waiting for you and me

Moonlight shining down for everyone to see,

Waiting for the moon and me.

Moonlight is beautiful, it shines so bright

It lights up the darkest night,

Everybody’s playing in the moonlight fun,

We’ll dance up the morning sun

Chorus.

Tired little girl at the end of the day

Dreamland is on its way

Moonbeam shining through her window so bright

Protect her from the morning light.

Chorus.

My Best Friend

Edgar, Golod, Mack Bailey (Spa Creek Music)

There are so many  Who I've met and known

But you are the one,   And in time you show

That you're always there,   Through good times and bad

I do not dare,   Forget the memories we've had

You're my best friend,

Through thick and thin,

Oh, why can't you see

What you mean to me?

You're my best friend,

You're my best friend,

In my mind I retrace   And nothing is missing

I remember the place   Getting lost in our first kiss

That look in your eyes,   that smile that you give me,

I know what you're thinking, I know that you love me, baby,

            Chorus

Sometimes I wish that I could sit And stare into your big blue eyes (or were they green?)

The deeper I fall in love with you The more I realize

With you, I'm complete;   There's never a down day.

Before I forget,   Baby I must say,

            Chorus

You're my best friend,

You're my best friend.

Never Like This

Keyes, Mack Bailey  (Spa Creek Music ASCAP)

New England Peace of Mind

Mack Bailey  (Spa Creek Music ASCAP)

Autumn in New England,

The leaves are changin' the colors of the land

The hills of the horizon are calling out to someone

As the snowy blanket falls so peacefully.

I hope you got my letter

And I hope it finds you well and doing fine.

The ticket is an offering of peace, I pray you see,

To come and share this New England peace of mind.

Chorus:

Well, I'm a long way from home

And I'm not ashamed to say that I'm lonely,

But I'm coming home soon,

I just don't want to leave all this behind.

And, Autumn in New England,

The leaves are changin' the colors of the land

The hills of the horizon are calling out to someone

To come and share this New England  peace of mind.

            Chorus

And, Autumn in New England,

The leaves are changin' the colors of the land

The hills of the horizon are calling out to someone

To come and share this New England  peace of mind.

The hills of the horizon are calling out to someone

To come and share this New England  peace of mind.

Jingle for Mount Washington Hotel

If you're feeling crowded, tired of the city grind.

Just pack your bags for Bretton Woods and a New England peace of mind.

The feelin' there is peaceful, you'll come to know it well

And you'll come to love New England at the Mount Washington Hotel.

No Longer Afraid

V. Buddy Renfro, Mack Bailey (Spa Creek Music ASCAP)

Well the journey has been eventful, and the days both dark and gold.

But this time we spent together, I will always have and hold.

Touch my hand on this path to freedom; let me feel the strength in your heart,

All the years are now behind us, in this new life we never will part.

Chorus:

We are walking into the sunset, with our heads held high in the light,

We are walking proud and smiling, no longer afraid of the night.

Look around you as we travel, and you’ll see how it all began.

From the cradle to the shouting, remember there’s never and end.

Try to keep from feeling lost in, this unknown valley so green and warm.

It’s a place we’ll share forever, our new and eternal home.

Chorus

Lift your voice and sing the praises to all the loved ones you will see

Where the sun falls into a valley, there’s music to set us free.

Chorus

Chorus

No longer afraid of the night, no longer afraid of the night.

Old Friend

Mack Bailey  (Spa Creek Music ASCAP)

One and Only You

Mack Bailey, Deb Moir (Spa Creek Music ASCAP)

Every single blade of grass and every flake of snow

Is just a wee bit different; there’s no two alike, you know.

From something small like grains of sand, to that gigantic star

All were made with this in mind, to be just what they are.

        Chorus:

How foolish, then, to imitate, how useless to pretend

Since each of us comes from a mind, whose ideas never end.

There’ll only be just one of me to show what I can do,

And you should likewise feel quite proud, ‘cuz there’s only one of you.

        Chorus

There’ll only be just one of me to show what I can do,

And you should likewise feel quite proud, ‘cuz there’s only one of you.

One Weed at a Time

Mack Bailey  (Spa Creek Music ASCAP)

I’ve never been one, to have a Green Thumb

To make my garden shine,

But down on my knees, protecting the seeds,

I take it one weed at a time.

Chorus:

One weed at a time, yeah

One weed at a time

I gonna make this part of my world better,

One weed at a time.

Driving my car, I don’t drive very far,

But I’ve got to get to work on time.

Yet all I can see is the traffic and me

It’s just one weed at a time.

Chorus.

I work all day, earning my pay

But I can’t seem to save a dime.

Groceries and rent, all my money is spent,

It’s just one weed at a time.

Chorus.

Chorus.

At the end of the day, I go out and play

In that little bitty garden of mine.

When all is said and done between the rain and the sun,

It’s just one weed at a time.

Chorus,

Chorus.

Porta Potty Polka

Mack Bailey, with high school students (Spa Creek Music)

My name is Billy Bob Joe Horton

And I’m a waterman on the bay,

I fish for crab and dredge for oysters

From sunup ‘til the end of day.

But back on the docks is a place I love,

Where I’m the king of my domain

Martha Stuart would be proud

Of the throne from where I reign.

Chorus:

It’s a Porta Potty Polka and we want you to sing along

It’s a Porta Potty Polka, we can all learn from this song.

We are wasting water every day

By simple tasks over done

By taking too long in the shower

To lettin’ the faucet water run.

Of all the water on the earth

One percent we can drink

It’s all kept in those shelves of bottles

Down at the Seven-Eleven, I think.

Chorus

So, if we want to do the right thing

Start conserving precious water

Use what we need, no more, no less,

Save some for our sons and daughters.

Spread the word from shore to shore

From cities to the little towns,

If it’s yellow, let it mellow,

If it’s brown, then flush is down.

Chorus.
