Cross at the End of the Road
Mack Bailey
(Spa Creek Music ASCAP)
As I travel this long lonesome highway
My thoughts are heavier than my load
Each mile marker sign is a sin I left behind
'Til I reach my Cross at the end of the road,
'Til I reach my Cross at the end of the road.
The Lord has surely been good to me,
I wish I could say the same
I came into this world an innocent child
And I'll leave bearing Jesus' name,
And I'll leave bearing Jesus' name.
My memory is flying down this dark, lonely road,
Shadows of days gone by.
Miles of lost chances seem to fade through the years,
As I keep my eye on Heaven's Holy prize,
I keep my eye on Heaven's Holy prize.
I've logged some miles just to share my song
With nothing but this guitar in my hand,
I'll sing 'til the Lord says, "My son, come on home,
I want you here in Heaven's Holy Band,"
And I want to play in Heaven's Holy Band.
As I travel this long lonesome highway
My thoughts are much heavier than my load
Each mile marker sign is a sin I left behind
'Til I reach my Cross at the end of the road,
'Til I reach my Cross at the end of the road,
'Til I reach my Cross at the end of the road.
High Gear
Mack Bailey
(Spa Creek Music ASCAP)
Driving down this
long stretch of black top
Gives a man some
time to think about his worth,
All the dreams that
he had as a young man and
The mark he would
leave upon this earth
But the years have
ways of moving faster
Hidden in the
seasons and the tide
If you feel that
life has passed you by
The desire is
fading in your eyes
Reach a little
deeper down inside.
Chorus:
Put it in high
gear, don’t let your wheels just turn
Put it in high gear
and make that fire burn.
Lay your life
before you, be a teacher while you learn
Put it in high gear
and make that fire burn.
Make it burn.
(instrumental
section)
Chorus
Bridge:
Stoke those fading
embers
Make them shine so
bright
Share it with the
world,
Be a beacon in the
night.
Chorus
Chorus
Make it burn, make
it burn, make it burn, make it burn.
Put it in High Gear
and make that fire burn.
Just Because
Mack Bailey, Tom
Paxton (Spa Creek Music ASCAP) (Pax Music ASCAP)
Just because you
can't see me doesn't mean I'm not there;
Just because you
can't hear me doesn't mean I don't care;
Just because you
can't make me appear out of thin air,
Just because you
can't hold me doesn't mean I'm not there.
Just because I am
gone now an ocean away
Doesn’t mean you
can't listen to every soft word I say
It's your name I
whisper in every Prayer
Just because you
can't hold me doesn't mean I'm not there.
Just because you
can't see me doesn't mean I'm not there;
Just because you
can't hear me doesn't mean I don't care;
Just because you
can't make me appear out of thin air,
Just because you
can't hold me doesn't mean I'm not there.
On the
loneliest night when it's so dark you can't see tomorrow,
Listen deep down in your heart to the sweetest voice say:
Just because you
can't see me doesn't mean I'm not there
Just because you
can't hear me doesn't mean I don't care
Just because you
can't make me appear out of thin air
Just because you
can't hold me doesn't mean I'm not there.
Just because you
can't hold me doesn't mean I'm not there.
Doesn't mean I'm
not there.
Whatever may come,
love, I'll always be there.
Through Your Eyes
Mack Bailey
(Spa Creek Music ASCAP)
Through your eyes I
can see memories long forgotten
Through your eyes I
can see a different point of view
Through your eyes I
see the reasons for the tears upon your cheek
And a laugh or
smile to chase those tears away.
Through your eyes I
can see the colors of the rainbow
Through your eyes I
can see a castle in the sand
Through your eyes I
see the jungle in the grass above your knees
And the magic and
the warmth of holding hands.
Through your eyes.
Through my eyes everything's so fast
With headlines and deadlines and always on the go.
Through my eyes I'll try to make it last,
But tell me, where does time go?
Through your eyes I
can see the thunder of the sky,
Through your eyes I
can see the beauty of the rain,
Through your eyes I
see the need to stop and treasure precious times,
For these moments
will never come again.
Through your eyes.
Through my eyes everything's so fast
With headlines and deadlines, and always on the go.
Through my eyes I'll try to make it last,
But tell me, where does time go?
Through your eyes I
can see the colors of the rainbow,
Through your eyes I
can see a castle in the sand,
Through your eyes I
can see long forgotten memories,
And the magic and
the warmth of holding hands.
Oh, there's magic
and warmth in holding hands.

About this song, former Vice-President Al Gore said: "I think it is
great that you both are promoting environmental awareness in your new song "It's
Time"." ~ Al Gore
The
other day my daughter came and looked me in the eye
She said I've got a lot of questions and they all begin with why
I'm hoping that you just might have an answer or two
As to why it is we sometimes do the things we do
Like building things in places cause there's nothing else there
And taking space from animals cause we don't want to share
I looked and saw the innocence of an open eyed child
As I pondered her questions and tried to give a smile
There are times things are driven by the money it makes
We want it done now, no matter what it takes
Then she said these words that filled my heart with dismay
Is there time to change so kids like me will have another day
It's time to stop thinking in red or black
It's time to stop taking and give it back
It's time to change the plan of attack
It's time, it's time, it's time
We talked of how the Earth it is our only home
And it's running out of ways it can sustain it's own
With the way our lives are changing every day
We all could be more mindful in the smallest ways
Just knowing that the choices that we're making now
Will effect the lives of future generations somehow
It's time to stop thinking in red or black
It's time to stop taking and give it back
It's time to change the plan of attack
It's time, it's time, it's time
It's ironic how the color of the dollar is green
While that's the color that we're losing when we cut down all our trees
We love to blame the animals for invading our homes
But we leave them with no place that they can call their own
Will there come a time when we can say we have enough
And stop filling our lives with material stuff
It's time to stop thinking in red or black
It's time to stop taking and give it back
It's time to change the plan of attack
It's time, it's time, it's time.
Choose Your Attitude
Mack Bailey and Chris Nole (Spa Creek Music ASCAP/
Strathmere Music BMI)
The
weatherman's sayin' partly cloudy today
Ah what's he know, anyway
Look out my window, what do I see
A partly sunny sky smiling back at me
Run out the door start my routine
Another traffic jam waiting for me
I could cry, I could whine, just like every other time
But that won't get me further down the road
There's got to be a better way to go
CHORUS:
High or low, up or down
Eyes to the sky or eyes to the ground
You can see what you want to see
It's up to you, choose your attitude
On those days life throws you a curveball
Whatcha gonna do, when your back's against the wall
I see my cup half filled up
Don't want none of that empty stuff
No Dr. Phil can't fill it up for me
It's my choice as to how it's gonna be
CHORUS
He and Jack
Mack Bailey - Spa Creek Music - 2005
A young man on a journey
Not sure of where he's going
Got one friend by his side
Who's never let him down
At sunrise on his tower
Somewhere in Colorado
He puts the bottle to his lips
And heads back in to town
He ain't lost, he ain't found
Just somewhere in the middle
He's a wild spirit bound to roam
And at the end of the day
As he and Jack are talking
I wonder where his heart calls home
He's seen both sides of a jail cell
And sometimes they're the same
A slammin' door is just
A slammin' door
And all of life's tough lessons
Are justified each day
It never seems to cross his mind
There could be another way
He ain't lost, he ain't found
Just somewhere in the middle
He's a wild spirit bound to roam
And at the end of the day
As he and Jack are talking
I wonder where his heart calls home
And halfway cross the country
There's a bedroom light still burning
It was the hardest thing to say
That this house ain't your home
As months turn into years
And as the tunnel light gets dim
It seems the hole in this soul
Will never get filled in
Now I've always been a fixer
A builder and a mender
But this time I've been told
It's got to be his own
Sometimes the feelings helpless
Some nights go on forever
But always know deep in your heart
I'll always love you son
He ain't lost, he ain't found
Just somewhere in the middle
He's a wild spirit bound to roam
And at the end of the day
As he and Jack are talking
I wonder where his heart calls home
Where Do I End and You
Begin
Mack Bailey and Rachel Levy Spa Creek Music - 2005
Like the setting of the sun
And the rising of the moon
Where do I end and you begin
Like a softly falling rain
And the colors that it brings
Where do I end and you begin
I don't know why these things happen
Or how they come to be
Like the love that drives this heart to beating
Where did you come from
Like the waves that roll on shore
And the tides that rise and fall
Where do I end and you begin
Like the breezes bring the spring
And the seasons following
Where do I end and you begin
We've always known each other
Like a song that's yet unsung
Like a kiss that lasts forever
Tell me, where did you come from
Like the setting of the sun
Like the softly falling rain
Like the waves that roll on the shore
Like the breezes bring the spring
Like a kiss that never ends
Where do I end and you begin
Where do I end and you begin
Where do I end and you begin
Lucky Man
Mack Bailey and Rachel Levy Spa Creek Music - 2005
I
got a four leaf clover in my pocket
Got a rabbit's foot in my hand
Got a girl in Colorado who is waiting for me
You could say that I'm a lucky man
I got a full moon over my shoulder
I got an open ticket in my hand
I got the good Lord above who is filling me with love
You could say that I'm a lucky man
Ooh
You could say that I'm a lucky man
Ooh
You could say that I'm a lucky man
I got a horseshoe in the backseat
And every penny that I've found
I got a full tank of gas and I'm gonna make it last
You could say that I'm a lucky man
Chorus
But for all the luck that's in my life
And all the ways to show it
What makes me proud down deep inside
Is I'm lucky enough to know it
I got a four leaf clover in my pocket
Got a rabbit's foot in my hand
Got a girl in Colorado who is waiting for me
You could say that I'm a lucky man
I got a full moon over my shoulder
I got this guitar in my hand
I got the good Lord above who is filling me with love
You could say that I'm a lucky man.
