* Mack has recently added many new appearances to his schedule. Concerts include performances: solo with Rachel Levy; with the Limeliters and with The Hard Travelers, plus a John Denver tribute concert in late summer in New Mexico. And yes, Mack will be back at the Wheeler Opera House this October for concerts celebrating the life and music of John Denver, along with the usual gang.
Concerts of NOTE: Mid-April - Mack conducts workshops for Kansas Seniors and High School Outreach Program in Coffeyville, Kansas May 3 - World Folk Music Association's Tom Paxton Tribute in Alexandria, VA - Mack with The Limeliters along with a stellar cast: The Chad Mitchell Trio, Peter Yarrow and Noel Paul Stookey of Peter, Paul & Mary, Christine Lavin, Anne Hills, Carolyn Hester and Side by Side May 9-11 - Susquehanna Music and Arts Festival in NE Maryland - Mack with Rachel May 17 - The Limeliters join voices with The Highwaymen and the Brandywine Singers in California Mid August and Late September - Mack has many appearances in all musical configurations (solo with Rachel, with the Limeliters, and with The Hard Travelers) in the usual Maryland arenas, including twice singing the National Anthem at the Baltimore Orioles games August 16 - John Denver Tribute Concert in Ruidoso, New Mexico October 10-11 - John Denver Tribute Concerts at the Wheeler Opera House in Aspen And SO MANY MORE! Hard Travelers fans: Please see update information on fiddler Jon Glik. He was featured on a local TV piece. Reports are that he's recovering very well and should be fiddling with the Hard Travelers this summer. There are four Hard Travelers concerts scheduled for Summer 2008. Mack adopts "M'Nzanga"
On March 23rd, Mack took possession of his new custom styled guitar. It was hand-made to Mack's specifications by David Holmes of Holmes Guitars. The Grand Auditorium Cutaway is constructed of European Flamed Curly Maple back and sides with Alaskan Sitka Spruce top. Paua abalone highlights the rosette and fingerboard at the twelfth fret, and European Swiss Pear binding outlines the top and back. A Fishman Ellipse Matrix under saddle and microphone blend pickup captures all the power and subtle nuances of Mack's clean guitar style. Mack named his new guitar "M'Nzanga" which means "my friend." NEWS UPDATE: March 15, 2008
It is with great sadness that Mack has learned of the passing of Dave Holmes on Thursday, March 13, after his brave battle with a brain tumor. Mack and Rachel as well as friends who knew Dave offer his family their heartfelt condolences. Mack loves the guitar that Dave custom made for him and will treasure it along with his memory.
